The CFT Masters Finals took place at Clark Francis Tennis and the Aviation Club on May 7th 2010 and hosted 4 categories, The U10, U12, U14 and the handicaps. Only the best 16 players of each age category who participated in the series of 12 events, the CFT Junior Series, could play the Masters. Overall there were 59 players at the Masters, all keen to win their age category, which would guarantee them a trip of a lifetime to the 2010 Roland Garros, French Open Championships. Each round was a full set to 6 games except the finals which was first to 10 games with a tie break at 9-9. Starting with the U10’s the top 2 ranked players Adham Gabr and Alexander Birch reached the finals.
Adham performed a more active game which gave him the victory of 10-5. In the U12’s the top 2 seeds Hamdy Ismail and Rhea John lost in the semi-finals to Mujahid Ali Khan and Alexander Birch. For Alexander it was his second final and yet again he was unlucky and lost this time to Mujahid 10-4. Karim Sobh, who was one of last year’s winners. Adarsh Ramesh played in the finals of the U14’s. It was a well fought match to begin but Adarsh pulled away towards the end and eventually won 10-4. In the Advantage Handicap category Adham Gabr continued playing his great game which he performed earlier in the U10’s and took another title winning against Nimit Kataria 10-4.
We would like to thank all kids that participated not only in the Masters Final day, but during the entire 12 CFT Junior Series. Big congratulations to Adham Gabr, who is coached by the CF Tennis Head Coach Jon Guntley, for winning 2 masters finals. We would also like to thank our wonderful sponsors, Adidas, The Aviation Club and Wilson, who as always made the event extra special and provided fantastic prizes to our players. Finally we would like to wish Adham, Mujahid and Adarsh a great Roland Garros experience.
