The E-Sports Under 9’s team took part in the inaugural Emirates Airlines Football 7’s at the Sevens ground where they made a fantastic impression. The team was made up of our Academy and our School Sessions kids playing together for the 1st time. They did E-Sports proud flying through their group games a 5-0,3-0 and a 1-0 not losing a goal mainly down to great defending by Dylan Woodworth and Goalie Bradley Ismail.
The team were confident and in their quarter final blew away another team 3-0. Outstanding football was played and spectators commented on what a the strength of the team. To the Semi Finals and faced with a strong Abu Dhabi Thistle side who were clearly up for it the game was tied 0-0 until a brilliant solo goal from McKenzie Hunt broke the deadlock beating 3 players and slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Great finish from the youngster sending them into the FINAL on the Stadium Pitch.
The FINAL was in front of good crowd and there was coverage of the match on Dubai Sports. E-Sports started well in the game against a strong Soccer Dubai side who were slightly older and play regularly together in our JFL, but they started to tire on the big pitch and Bradley our goalkeeper kept us in it in during the 1st half. They scored early in the second and the game was over. The boys gave great effort right until the final whistle. They were disappointed but got massive support as they went up to collect their runners up medals. A great day and the boys did excellent to get that far !!
WELL DONE E-SPORTS U9’s!
